hmmm…would I be happy if I had taken the db stream?

Schedule today:
midnight-11am - studying
11am-11:30am - on the way to school
11:40-1:30 - unix test
1:30-3:00 - vb class
4:00-5:00 - passed out from exhaustion on the sofa
5:00-6:00 - woohoo Star Trek Voyager is back in syndication(reg cable channel)
That’s right, didn’t sleep at all from last night till the end of classes today. The test didn’t went that well, but from what I can see, I will have a minimum of 60%. Anyway, to my surprise, Star Trek Voyager is back in syndication on the "A channel"(chn 20 for 905 cable). I’ve actually been catching a lot of the 4th season episodes online. I’m just so happy it’s on tv(I think it’s at season 1 right now). While flipping channels at dinner time, a channel was showing "She’s All That". …feels like I’m back in the 1999/2000 again, how wonderful.
can’t believe the whole week is almost gone. Been working on assignments and studying for tests for the majority of my waking hours. I need more time, more books, and less work. Oh I went to the meeting today. Nothing much was said, other than the very very general overview of it all. It doesn’t look like a pyrimid scheme, more of the umbrella variety. The guy does sound very serious, so I will humor him and see what phase 2 is. Honestly, when a person asks me to take part in a new business venture, there’re certain things I would expect(which I didn’t see today):
-a solid business plan or at least a draft
-a confidentiality agreement
-preliminary market research or anything to prove the marketability of the product or service
If I had seen or hear him mention 2 of the 3 things listed, I would take him more seriously. All I was shown were some vague ideas and lots of big company brand name. Seriously, big company brand names are not that impressive when you don’t actually mention what you did with them.
The meeting was held at Sheppard Centre…man that underground parking has really shitty directions. Took me a good 5 min walk to find the sign for the mall entrance. The only thing to be thankful for is the road condition today.
Btw…I’m still working hard on the prj thing, I still hate Ruby plenty. Takes hours of research just to do something simple. While searching, I found this forum posting which I totally agree on. (http://discuss.joelonsoftware.com/default.asp?joel.3.309321.2)
Heck, I’d rather do the pain in the ass 1.1 .NET than ruby. I am so heading for a Java heavy company when I’m done with this program.
Just read Ms. Mars’ blog today. Very odd, seems we are going through the exact same thing. Lots of not so interesting tasks are waiting to be taken care of, and plenty of interesting stuff that we just don’t have time for.
Today I’m trying to tie some loose ends to all the assignments and stuff I’m stuck with. Something is so different this semester. I just don’t feel as passionate about any of the assignments. I still remember just last sem, I was so very much into developing apps on J2EE. Most of the assignments offers a good deal of knowledge which will help me in the future, but it just seems to be too much of it. I’m making pacman for the vb course. I need to choose a J2EE blueprint to built somekind of app. An app to read text documents with lots of fancy graphic control for the shell scripting. And I still got that prj thing with Ruby. The only thing I’m certain I can finish with A+ grade is the oracle forms course.
Oh here’s something a friend asked me couple days ago when I told him the amount of stuff I’m learning this sem, " 怎學這麼多,這樣會精嗎?"
Obviously I won’t be able to master all the stuff, but it’s not as if I have a choice(an economical sensible one). Sigh….2 more months….need to get it done.
Did anyone watch tonight’s Connan O’Brian? Did I read it wrong, or did they really spell double, "dubble"?
…oh and I almost forgot, got this strange meeting on Sat. Apparently, my friend AT got me into this meeting with a business associate of his, about some business opportunity. I hope it’s not some crazy idea that won’t work or some wierd pyrimind scheme. I’m just not in the mood to put up with that sort of thing. And a heads up for anyone who wants to introduce me to someone you know but is a total stranger to me, don’t give out my home phone number. If you are ever the middleman, do it with proper business conduct. E-mail fine, mobile number fine, home phone number, no. Even my co-op coordinator ask for my permission before giving out my contact info. It’s just the proper thing to do. Too late to change anything, just gotta rip 3 hrs of my precious time this Sat and get it done.
When will this winter end….I hate snow. Just another dump of snow came down today. It’s still coming down now. All I can think about is what I’m gonna do for dinner tonight. The road condition will probably be really bad, so dinning out is not an option. Somehow I wish I bought those instant noodles on Sunday, but then again, those are so fatty and overly salted. Luckily, I still have a can of soup.
(oh the new fridge is here, but it’s not exactly the one my sis paid for, so nothing is going in it till the issue is solved. Honestly, I do hate getting a product that isn’t exactly what I paid for but in this case, it’s not really a big problem. The issue here is that my sis wants the freezer drawer to have 3 decks for putting baking sheets in when needed instead of the one big bucket. But really…when’s the last time she cooked? Even with the SK dessert thing, it’s once in every 3 to 4 months. I mean really,…it’s not that big of an issue.)
