p.o.c. II

Tuesday, July 18th, 2006

Went to watch Pirates of the Caribbean:Dead Man’s Chest today. (Yes, I’m once again in the carnage mind set. Do what I want, when I want.) The special effect on that squid face antagonist was really worth watching, really impressive shader. The ending of the movie was a bit of a let down, they took too much time introducing the lead-in to the sequel. Pretty much as a summer movie, I expected much more of a bang for the ending. Nothing to the story really was resolved. The whole movie seem more like a very length trailer to the sequel. Not too disappointing as the special effects kept my interest. (just a note to spongebob viewer, get the image of the flying dutchman out of your head before watching. heh heh)

decisions decisions

Monday, July 17th, 2006

a number of decisions has been made with the consensus of all members of my psyche.
Recent and on-going disatisfaction with life has lead me to conclude my chapter of living Ontario must end. Next destination, Japan, has been assigned. Original plans to gain a co-op position will only hinder my plans to permanently move to Japan, hence, I will head for my 5th & 6th semesters consecutively this September.
The situation with my shoulders has also been decided. Physical flexibility is to be sacrificed in order to gain more power.

to execise or not to execise

Sunday, July 16th, 2006

Been back on the track to weight train every night for an hour before bed since two weeks ago.  As expected with my freakish body, I gain immediate results. I’ve have gained 3 pounds of muscle weight over all. It’s really great how much more definition are in my shoulders now, but it did came with a price. My arms now have less flexibility, I can’t do that thing where both hands can grap on to each other with one arm reaching over the shoulder and the other twists upwards. I used to be able to do that so well, I can have a good knuckle to knuckle grip.  I wonder if I should continue my training….

more about my car

Sunday, July 16th, 2006

If you’ve been reading my postings, you know I’ve been trying to shift gears in a high rev. To my understanding, higher the rev should result in higher gas consumption. Oddly enough, the figure(yes, I keep track of my gas / distance ratio) indicates that I’ve been using less fuel.  So more fun = less gas consumption. :)  that’s a good thing. The sad thing is….so all the while I had my car, I was actually not shifting at it’s optimal rev. Oh well, from now on, you will see me accelerate much faster. (acceleration != speeding, just means I will get to the speed limit faster. Drive safe!)

back to the usual

Wednesday, July 12th, 2006

after a fun evening at the track, I returned to the office as usual. The office is rather depressing. Gray walls, gray desk, 2 tone gray cubical separator, chocoal gray chair and phone. Heck, even the sky was gray today. I dont’ have much of a window view from where I sit. Barely have a glimse of the windows and most people have the blinds 3 quats shuts. sigh…..

UFC is unstoppable? yea right

Wednesday, July 12th, 2006

Read an article on yahoo today, headline "UFC is unstoppable". The article isn’t much of a read. Basically, it mentions how UFC is getting more popular becuase it’s being broadcast on tv and a bit of unjust comments like "UFC has kicked tranditional boxing to the curb…". If you read on to the forum discussion, it gets worst. All these idiots talking trash about things they don’t understand.

Personally, UFC has been trash for a long long time. It’s almost as shitty as boxing. All the guys are too chicken shit to give it their all in the first round. And don’t get me started on how poor their grappling technique are. They would roll around the ground minuits on end till the round ends. Some people really like the "cage" type ring. I hate it. Quite often the fighters are hurt from getting scratches from the cage fence.  Pride has much better fighters and it’s a lot more exciting. Pride is one of the better organizations.

Here’s a list of combat sports of my preference from favorite to I wouldn’t watch it even if my life depend on it.
1. Muay Thai (the real stuff, not American kick boxing without elbows and knees)
2. K-1
3. Pride
4. UFC (before the stupid gloves and regulations)
5. UFC
6. Boxing

Gooooo Kart!!!!

Tuesday, July 11th, 2006

Had lots of fun today at the track. E, H and I went go-karting. Antz had work so he missed out this time. I really enjoy it, really proves how much control I have. No one even came close to bumping into me today. At least 3 stupid people who try to block me gone into the wall from their own stupid actions. Those people are such idiots. You go onto the track to have fun, not to be stupid.

I really like how I handled the kart today, presice braking totally put me in an advantage. (My left feet is very good at hitting the brake since it gets it’s execise form the clutch on a daily bases.)

Gokart_s Here’s a photo of my wrist band with no crash stamp on it.  And beside it are my disposible blue contacts. (Sorry E and H, I left so sudden. I can’t see too well at night with these contacts. Need the remaining sunlight to guide me home.)

up and running

Wednesday, July 5th, 2006

first post back on the big box.
Softwares are not all back yet, so don’t ask me to convert any videos or stuff.
Supposedly, all the software should be installed by tonight but my search for perfected got me off course. From all the testings and re-installing, I actually ended up with 2 copies of XP on different drives. So I tinkled around trying to get rid of the one I don’t want. Needless to say, it didn’t work out too well. Messed up the mbr, the whole thing couldn’t boot into any windows. Did some this and that, finally just re-install it again. Man….I must have installed XP 5 or 6 times this week. ~_~  anyway just glad to be back. It’s now more stable, quieter, produce less heat. I’m pretty happy with the performance. Coming weekend, I might tackle the noisy PIII fans on my old server. Yes, PIII’s are old but they are reliable. Dual processor setup, it’s a rock solid server. Does nothing more than BTing these days, and serve as a backup when my big box is down. Time to get some shut eye.

finally

Tuesday, July 4th, 2006

finally found out that the hell was wrong with my board.
no physical damage (which is good, it’s one of my biggest worries).
Turns out when I was working on the fan, somehow the battery got lose and reset the cmos. Everything, settings to the raid, all the every. It even revered back to .012 bios. That bios doesn’t support the "new" cpu(aka AMD X2). Not to mention it read my dvd drive as a ATA33 device….so that’s why it took 6 hours to install XP.  fffffff…….k   This is the first time I got a faulty Asus product. Faulty not only in hardware but software as well. I’m seriously re-considering my loyalty to Asus brand.

But one good thing come from this. Now that I don’t have to dish out $129 for a new mb, I can use the $$ to get a ATI All-in-wonder card. I had their first generation (which costed $500 at that time). 7-8 generations later, I’ll reunite with this product again. Still remember that wonderful video wall function that allows me to watch 12 channels all at the same time.

don’t fix what is not broken

Monday, July 3rd, 2006

Since I didn’t have any plans this long weekend, I figure it’s time to fix that chipset fan. bad idea…. The new fan didn’t quite fit, I kinda forced it in. Maybe there’re micro fractures on the board or something but when it restarted, it was so slow. I mean insanely slow, as though I’m running xp on a 386. The odd thing is that every hardware checks out fine. Sigh….I will put more time into it next weekend. If it’s still not fixed, I think I will have to throw $$ on a new mb. damn asus faulty fan.
