co-op visiting day

Monday, July 31st, 2006

So tomorrow, my co-op ordinator will visit me at work. Last time around at OPG was okay, there were places to go, things to see….but where I work now, there isn’t much to see. Most I can show her is what I’ve been working on for the 3 long long months. Though she’s not much of a technical person, so it will probably be a boring visit.  hmmm…blue shirt or red shirt….probably blue.

got my 20s today

Sunday, July 30th, 2006

the 20s are heavy. While holding on to a pair of them, I had to wait in line. The stupid Chinese woman ahead of me was arguing with the store clerk over a 3 dollar difference. Anyhow, the new weights are great. It will take me some time to get use to them. I still use the 10s as warm up. I want to be able to wheel the 20s as I do with the 10s. Enough so that I can throw punches with one on each hand.

looooooong walk

Saturday, July 29th, 2006

Got up rather late today. By the time I’m done breakfast, it was already 2:30.
Pretty much, driving North won’t be such a good idea, plus I don’t have enough in the tank to go really far. So instead, I took a long walk downtown. Stopped at Eaton Centre just to see what has changed. Then walked on yonge all the way to the edge of the pier. Walked back up, passed by the restaurant which I manage the website for. Saw B outside smoking, waved hi then waved bye. Went back into Eaton Centre, had some chicken finger with fries…..and that’s pretty much it. Maybe it’s me, but I think DT TO got a bit stinkier and dirtier. Most non-financial building are old and ugly, and I don’t mean rustic, I mean ugly ugly, or as KS would say fugly. Oh…and the sewage smell along with the pollution. It’s a far cry from Japan where streeet look clean enough to eat off it. oh well…I still got some good execise out of it. And tomorrow. I’m going to get some new weights. I will be doubling the current amount.

the calm before the storm

Thursday, July 27th, 2006

that’s right…a storm is coming. Just as I stepped into the office this morning, I got an e-mail for a meeting tomorrow.  It’s a big one too, the list of attendees is pretty long. I hope I don’t have to present much, as public speaking isn’t really something I like to do, especially for a project still under development. But there’s nothing I can do to change it, so just accept it. Ironed my shirt, shined my shoes and all ready to look like the pro that I am.

don’t want to work

Tuesday, July 25th, 2006

Recently the situation at work got a little uncomfortable. My manager’s manager’s manager is assigning work directly to me. He’s a friendly guy, but that just makes it even more uneasy. You would want to be friendly but knowing how much authority he has over the company’s direction, you’d be uncomfortable too.  …sigh….another 8 hours, and the whole work day thing repeats again.

Clerks II

Tuesday, July 25th, 2006

Tuesday night is movie night. :)  Watched Clerks II today. It might seem like a simple comedy but there’s a bit of depth to it which makes it worth watching. Lots of harsh languages, but it’s funny in the way they are used. The joke were funny. (nothing lame or repetitive) It’s a shame that the theatre was half empty and it’s only the second week onto screen. Owning the DVD(in the coming future) however, would be a questionable decision. I really like the movie but it’s not something that I would watch more than twice.

Wondering what I will watch next week?  It will either be "Lady in the Water" or "Monster House".

(almost forgot, Rosario Dawson looks great.)

yesterday

Monday, July 24th, 2006

It was a rather interesting day to shop for groceries. Rain was heavy, I mean really heavy. The view was barely visible even with my wipper set to the highest. Went to T&T to pick up my usual breakfast stuff and 2nd lunch, then I went onto J-mart. By then everything below my knees were went, but I just kept on going. After I picked up my monthly design mag form the book store, I stepped out the door. Just as I was about to open the door to the super, all the lights went out. Power out,…probably lighting hit some station. So I just went home half soaked. Why didn’t I stay? I only had a 20 on me, with the power out, I doubt they will be able to do interact.  So today, I don’t have my usual onigiri for lunch, instead, bpj sandwiche. Doesn’t sound much interest…but it sure was fun, driving in heavy rain, running across the parking lot splashing water everywhere.  :)

short trip

Saturday, July 22nd, 2006

Got a little bored today. Supposely, I invited 2 friends over to do some lan games but one of them was a no show (and no call…). Since it’s not his first time doing this, we decided to call if off early so our time is free up for other things. Wanted to go a bit further, I got in my car and drove North.
Always wanted to see what’s at the end of 404…(that’s just me, I like know where the road begins and where it ends), I’d just drove North. I didn’t quite made it to the end today, instead I got off at Davis and headed to Upper Canada mall. It’s quite a nice place to be in comparision to the other malls around where I live. I had this strange feeling that I’ve been there before, yet I don’t recall when and why. Anyway, walked around a little and got some DVDs. I’d finally bought "Life Aquatic". I kinda held off purchasing this DVD because it has always been over priced to $26.99. I got it for $19.99 today. I really like it. It has that kind of sophisticated humor, more about words and situations than stupid America fart and poop jokes. So after the trip, I headed over to Mary Brown’s Famous Chicken & Taters. As far as fastfood go, Mary Brown’s chicken are the best. (http://www.marybrowns.com/) The chicken is lean, not greasy eventhough it’s fried, and not over cooked. ….so that’s what I did this weekend. Next weekend I’m hoping to go North again but maybe to the near by beach or park.

agonizing days ahead

Thursday, July 20th, 2006

Don’t know why, but my task at work seems to get more difficult by the min.
I’ve learned to use at least 7 java packages, and I don’t mean the usual ones that came with the standard installation. And now I’m tackling a situation where I have to sychronize 2 threads. I really have to ask, "is this really a job for a co-op?".  sigh….at least I will have great stories to tell to the next co-op term students.   ~_~  one more month Tommy, just one more month.

just things

Tuesday, July 18th, 2006

despite negativity shown in my "decisions decisions" post, I was rather happy that day. The night before(Sunday), just as I was about to turn off my computer, the prettiest TW girl asked me stuff about 3D rendering. I dont’ know whether it’s the communicing with a pretty girl or the teaching, or very likely the combination of both, I really enjoyed it.  Finally, someone worth looking at and she has the brains to match it. I’d say, it’s somewhat of a motivation for me to do more renderings and write more tutorials. (yes, I stayed up till 2, and got into work late, but it’s worth the cost.)
