the shitty prices of computer software
If you’ve been reading, you know one of my computer has recently ran into a spyware. Impossible to get rid of, so my only option is to do a total re-installation. While that is a solution, it’s only a temporary one. Months down the road, I’m sure some other spyware will try and over take my system again. So I looked towards methods of prevention. I really like Norton Internet Security, but that costs $100 a year and so does simular software packages. Pretty ridiculous isn’t it? My decent performance pc, costs around $1000. Windows itself cost about 1/4 the cost of my system. Being a virus prone os, you will need another software to keep it healthy, which will cost around 1/5 of the system cost per year. I assume my system will last 4 years before technology require something better and faster. So the amount I spent on software by the end of my hardware life is about the same? WTF? With that money, why don’t I just buy another computer when the old one breaks down.
Microsoft, I know you are trying to make things better, just not fast enough. I’m moving on to linux. Something I can feel safe when getting my e-mail or just browsing. (I know linux has it’s problems too, but after using a whole day testing out many distros. I’ve invested too much time not to continue with it)
goooooo linux! ^_^ for all of you who are thinking of doing the same, try knoppix (www.knoppix.org)
