the shitty prices of computer software

Tuesday, February 28th, 2006

If you’ve been reading, you know one of my computer has recently ran into a spyware. Impossible to get rid of, so my only option is to do a total re-installation. While that is a solution, it’s only a temporary one. Months down the road, I’m sure some other spyware will try and over take my system again. So I looked towards methods of prevention. I really like Norton Internet Security, but that costs $100 a year and so does simular software packages. Pretty ridiculous isn’t it?  My decent performance pc, costs around $1000. Windows itself cost about 1/4 the cost of my system. Being a virus prone os, you will need another software to keep it healthy, which will cost around 1/5 of the system cost per year.  I assume my system will last 4 years before technology require something better and faster. So the amount I spent on software by the end of my hardware life is about the same?  WTF?  With that money, why don’t I just buy another computer when the old one breaks down.
Microsoft, I know you are trying to make things better, just not fast enough. I’m moving on to linux. Something I can feel safe when getting my e-mail or just browsing. (I know linux has it’s problems too, but after using a whole day testing out many distros. I’ve invested too much time not to continue with it)
goooooo linux!  ^_^   for all of you who are thinking of doing the same, try knoppix (www.knoppix.org)

switching os

Friday, February 24th, 2006

my server is still down. It can start, but I don’t want to risk infecting others, so for the time being I have it off. I am trying to do some damage control. But going into windows is what makes the ad ware active, so I’m switching to linux (*cheer form the nerds*). Not sure how long I’m going to stay with linux…but it might be a while. It’s less likely to get infected…that’s right, less likely, not impossible. The same goes for the Mac OS.

stupidity

The guy I was mentions in my last entry.  well he gave me his screen mockups…on paper…and not even drawn with a ruler.  That’s after I offered to help him with it 3 times, count them 3 times! So of course the prof didn’t accept the submission. Good thing the marks are rather independent. His lost. I told all my members what need to be done, when it’s to be done. If he decides not to do it, I can’t make him do it. In a strange way, I’m actually happy….yes I like to punish the stupid and disorderly.  Ignorance I can bare…but not stupidity.

aaaaar….

you stupid no good, bad grammer, esl speaking, fucker….. I god damn ask you to sent me the fucking file latest at 10pm, you send the shit to me at midnight and has the audacity to tell me you can’t draw on the fucking computer while I offer to do it for you today and neither of you fucking showed up, let me sat there for an hour and now you can’t delivery the work… >.<
If this guy was on the apprentice show, I would not only fire his ass, I will just throw him right out the window and end his unworthy existence.

just reviewed the eligibility condition for co-op. It seems I can actually afford to drop that shitty INT422 course so I can concerntrate on my other courses and stay a 3.9 GPA student. …should I do it? The course is half way done…but my group project teams are really dragging me down. They just don’t live up to my expectations and that creates shit loads of work for me. you wouldn’t believe how much grammar and spelling mistakes I had to check on their written work…not to mention that these guys just don’t read the documents I sent them. No one is doing the second proof reading part…..geez……ok, I think I’m ready to drop that shitty course. The course itself isn’t shitty, just the prof. hate him hate him hate him. totally stressed out….F***ing no good ****….

stupid virus….as if I don’t have enough to handle these days…I will have to reformat my server over the study week. Lucky I have 3 extra computer to handle the work while the server is down……stupid no good kids writing stupid viruses that does nothing good…I would skin them alive if I ever know who made it.

so tired

Tuesday, February 21st, 2006

worked insane hours last week for work, this week’s for assignments. …well this week’s actually better, but still, working with people is difficult(unless they are all my genetic clones who’s top priority is efficiency).  Just a few more days and it’ll be study week. But it’s not exactly something to look forward to, I have more work lined up. I do hope to take some time and join my friends for lunch or something of that nature. Will see how exhausted I am…maybe I will just hibernate.

the week’s finally over

Saturday, February 18th, 2006

had a pretty tough week, tests, assignments, work. Still pretty stressed but it’s nothing I can’t handle. Anyway after a week of taking crap from every direction, I went to have some good food. Nothing fancy, just went to j-town and bought what ever I felt like getting. So for dinner last night, I had beef croquette, fried oysters, and sushi with lots of wasabi just the way I like it.
Did you know they actually have Japanese imitation food at the TEL cafe? Seaweed and soggy, fish barely acceptable, wrong type of rice used….but I still prefer fish + rice over burgers and fries.

Nerd Am I

After grueling 24+ hrs of work on the CHC site, and a client meeting in the afternoon, I just feel like throwing money at things I like but don’t need. I wanted to go and eat some over priced stuff….but I wasn’t hungry. Then I thought I might just blow it on some new DVDs. Eventually ended up buying a $50+ book on .NET.   I can’t stand that fucker who’s teaching the class. The lack of quality in education really pisses me off to the point where I just want to jab him with any sharp object I have on hand.   Anyway now that I got a good book, no need to rely on his teachings anymore. Time to kick some asses.

co-op presentation over

Tuesday, February 14th, 2006

woohoo! my presentation totally blow the others away. Thanks to my skills in Flash and of course my good sense of organization. 9 slide, all smooth transitions from beginning to end. …..yea of course it was great….at some point of time, this was what I do for a living.  ~_~
