stupid msn messenger

Saturday, December 10th, 2005

first off, F U microsoft messenger developement team. You suck!

Recently, people have been sending me emotioncons, videochats, and other stuff that’s part of the new msn features. Personaly I don’t give a crap about these, but I’m a bit curious to see what it is. So I installed IM7.5 today. 15 min in, looking around, man…it sucks. It requires more ram than ever, it’s much slower, it’s just a piece of crap. There’s isn’t any obvious options to hide the tabs, and stupid search box. After fiddling with it for several mins, I manage to hide tabs, but still over all, it takes too much desktop space. So begin the uninstall process and reinstalling the old version I was using. WTF, after installing, you get a message "You must install the latest version".  A big F U, microsoft. It’s my computer, you have no say on what I "must" install.  Anyway, I’m now on Trillian, I’m off msn forever until they make changes.  How would they know what to change? The fuck I know. I try looking for a feedback page, but it does not exist.

If you are on msn and would like something better, I totally recommend using Trillian.

My ideal online communication tool:

  • take up no more than 163X261 pix on screen
  • allow offline messages
  • allow file transfer
  • some basic emotioncons
  • message logs

That’s all I need. I don’t use any other features.    Dont’ you miss the old days when things are simpler. Ad less icqing, no crappy features on msn.

charged and hyper

Had 3 cups  of coffee today, like a health meal, one in the morning, one at lunch and one in the evening. Need to, had to, and so I did.  I’ve stayed awake from 3 am till now which is 1am.  I should be tired now but the coffee is keeping me awake.  I’m surprised my hands aren’t shaking, though I’m plenty hungry.

Oh and because I wanted to finish the demo on time, I had dinner pretty early. Like super duper old geezer early bird early, just to save time. hmmm…good time to make some raisin toasts.

dry dry dry

Friday, December 9th, 2005

my face has been cracking up all week, not from laughter but from the stupid dry air. I keep examining my every day routines to find a flaw but couldn’t find a single thing. Turns out I’d just forgot to turn on the humidifier.  I guess this is one reason I don’t like to live in Toronto. I need to live in a moist enviroment.

Nanticoke Visite

Tuesday, December 6th, 2005

Picture19 Picture20  Had a field trip today to the Nanticoke coal power plant. The big pipe there is one of the two pipes that takes out the steam after it’s been used in the turbines. After all the filters and stuff, only 1% of the ash is left in the steam. The other is a photo of lake Erie. More than 350 ships a year come in from the lake to deliver coal. Eventhough the government has been taking about closing down the plant, it’s doubtful that it will happen anytime soon. The energy demand of Ontario is just too much.  It’s pretty scary how much the energy demand has increased in the past few years. Compare to the 60’s we Ontarians is now using about 5 times of what the demand was back then. Odd isn’t it? With our aging population, shouldn’t demand for energy be decreasing? Anyway, the trip was great, get to see those huge turbines.

good music

Saturday, December 3rd, 2005

after months and months of not having anything *new* to listen to, I decided to shop for some new cds. Why didn’t I go sooner? Well lack of time for one, and most music today are pure crap. Picked up a copy of Nirvana’s Sliver(best of the box). Yes, YES, I can finally have some good music. Now where did I put that time machine, perhapes I can still catch a concert. ha ha

* new not in terms of release day but anything that I have not heard previously.

schedule set

It’s registration day today at school. Had a slight problem with the network at work, so I rushed back to do it at home online. For the first time, I’ve got all the courses at all the time slots I desired. Previous sems, I kinda went with the flow, whoever, whatever, as long as I’m enrolled. Wonder if this change will affect my grades. ….one month away from defending my 3.9 gpa.
