thoughts of insanity

Thursday, December 29th, 2005

I’ve always been thinking up these crazy idea to make Toronto a more interesting place to live. A while ago, I thought, wouldn’t it great if I can manipulate the real estate market and start creating more definitions between cities and create more condensed living units(homes)? Some of you are thinking "what the hell would I do that?".  For one, it will make things a lot easier like taking care of the aging population. A more condensed living enviroment will make a closed community, easily accessed facilities and such. Secondly, having more distinction between city will increase the interest of inner city travel. Have you ever had those days when you want to drive somewhere but you don’t really care to because the places a few towns over is exactly the same as where you are? The houses look all alike, from the local supermarket to the stores at the plaza, they are all the same, just ran by different people. It’s boring as hell. Honestly, when’s the last time you told a friend "We must head over to Markham because of there’s a really neat restaurant I want to visit".  Ok…Markham is a bad example considering there’s a high concerntration of Chinese related stores and restaurants. But I mean other places, Pickering, Windsor, Brampton, Etobicoke. With cities so boring, it’s no wonder all the youth are leaving as soon as they graduate.

Anyway back to my crazy plan to control the market. I would make residential area that are near boarder of the city limits less attractive, and slowly moving everything towards the centre of the city. Then with enough money, built a better city to city public transit system (trains only, no buses.) Allow each city to grow independently and start developing a sort of character. People need a reason to travel so give them some, like specialty stores, or localized products that you just can’t get anywhere else. Heck, make it so special that people from one city will travel to another to stay the night just to take in the difference.

…..enough blabing….if you still don’t see what’s happening, I’m trying to make Toronto more Japan like. Cities should be fun, interesting, distinct,…not platters of grey.

task lists

Wednesday, December 28th, 2005

Do you find it difficult to get things done? I do. I would sit around wasting time on whatever I find. That’s when a task list come in. I make a list of all the stuff(tasks) that has to be completed from today to weeks ahead. Once the list is made, I just nail them down one by one faster than …..I don’t know what. It’s great.

Merry Christmas Everyone

Sunday, December 25th, 2005

First off, thank you very much Edmond san for the party invite, and thank you very much Carmen san for hosting the great party. It’s a friendly and intimate gathering, really lovely. Not to mention it finally broke the cycle of going to the boring karaoke. Hanging out with a bunch of designers are great, I haven’t done it in such a long while. Everyone is so relaxed and just enjoying life. Food was alright, could have been better if I knew earlier so I can better prepare. Everyone liked the cookies my sis made. Another thing I like is that I didn’t feel too old in the crowd. Lately I’ve been rather concious of my age, thinking about my career path and where and what I should be aiming for. Anyway it’s the holidays, I can forget about work for a day or two, and so should you. HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERY ONE.   (btw one of the guys in the party played guitar….it’s so awsome, I must obtain this skill.)

Everything turned out fine X2

Friday, December 23rd, 2005

Booking my hair appointment as late as 10:30 in the morning, I still manage to get it done. Looking a lot better now, present ready, food preped, all ready to go. Don’t you just love it when everything works out by itself? I really should have went shopping for some new clothes today, my last addition to the closet is at least a year old. (no, I don’t dress like a slob.)

What’s the present for? Some gift exchange thing at the party. What is it? The keychain groomy (Yellow labrador). It’s the only one that I don’t have the larger version of.

things always turn out fine

Thursday, December 22nd, 2005

Woke up this morning around 8:15,….late again. Just when I thought I was gonna look like a troll this Sat, miracle happened. My pimple is gone. …hmmmm…now if I can only squeeze in a hair appointment at Taro’s tomorrow….

full day of ups and downs

Wednesday, December 21st, 2005

so much happened today and yet not really that much happened.

The bad: Rogers finally cut their nntp service, another co-worker(co-op) left, had a little accident at a parking lot.

The good: got my new AMD X2 system, all my work at work is done, one of my freelence job is almost done just waiting for client reply, the little accident did no damage and no one got hurt. My manage will be in downtown tomorrow, so I can really really slag off. My new computer is pretty, all black, no stupid fibre glass windows or lights.

The strange: I don’t know when but I think I’ve accepted my friend’s invitation to a party this Sat. It’s exciting, meeting new people and all. Just not in my current condition. I’ve been working like crazy the past few week. What can I say, I’m a mess. Further more, the last few late nights made a huge pimple right under my nose.  I can really say, I’m in my second worst shape of my life (first being that time when I had all 4 of my wisdom tooth taken out, don’t worry I’m still plenty smart)

….so tired now…need sleep

dead tired

Monday, December 19th, 2005

it’s 1:30 am and I’m just finished with today’s tasks.  Normally, I would already be in bed but with the recent chain of freelence jobs, I’ve turn to coffee and late nights.  Some are soon to be finished but then again I’m piling on even more.  neeeed rest…..

big spender

Friday, December 16th, 2005

it’s that time of the season again to buy something expensive. If I was to have some kind of relationship, I’d probably would be spending money on a gift for that special someone. Since I don’t have one, more $$ for me. : )

New System Specs:

  • AMD X2 3800+
  • Asus SLI board (everything include, even firewire)
  • 1Gb ram (more the better, but I don’t need that much yet)
  • 2X Maxtor SATA 200GB drives (woohoo SATA strip raid, eat my dust ATA133)
  • Pioneer dual layer DVD writer (it’s about time I start writing 9gb on one disc)
  • ATI x300SE (cheaped out on the videocard, I don’t need anything fancy, just enough to drive my 1680×1050 mon on dvi will do. I do plan to add a second one later so I can use quad mon. I use crap loads of desktop space)

yup, the cost is equal to a fine piece of jewlery or a weekend trip out of town. Maybe I will do that after my next work term.  The trip I mean. I could seriously use a vacation. mina-san, Nihon ni ikimasuka?

hee hee single life,  hima desu ne!

a good pasta night

Monday, December 12th, 2005

made pasta again this week. But there’s a surprise, I bought prawns from j-town. That’s right, prawns not shrimp. Each one is the size of my finger. 5 mins in the pan and they came out just right. They are a bit expensive, $12 for about 20 of them but worth every penny.

stupid flash script

Sunday, December 11th, 2005

wasted and hour of my time today trying to figure out why one of my flash apps isn’t working. Turns out stupid flash counts a scene as frames under _root. So if you have two scenes, the first with 10 frames, the second with 5, you call a gotoAndPlay to the second scene is actually gotoAndPlay(11). I tried so many ways to change the play head within scene two, finally I’d just added the number of frames in scene one to all my scripts, and it worked. Stupid flash….and the new documentation doesn’t help neither. Have anyone notice how crappy the new documentations are? It used to be written in humanly understandable language back in version 4 and 5.

shit….now I don’t have time to fold my clothes, or send that e-mail I should have sent 2 weeks ago.  ~_~  *&(&#$)$*)#(*$)(#*$)(#….
