product design continue…

If you read my posts, a while ago I posted one with the specs I want for a LCD monitor. To my surprise, I’ve actually got something pretty close to it.

Gateway FPD2185W,  21" wide screen lcd monitor. It’s got component/composite/s-video inputs, dvi and d-sub. It’s freaking amazing. Did I mention, it’s max res is 1680×1050? perfect for watching movies and those hd tele programs I downloaded. (most jap stations are in hd now, so it fit well) It’s got picture in picture as well, fully featured.  It’s great but I still have a few things I want to change.  First, a tv tuner should be added. Second, the buttons should be relocated to the front of the monitor. Having the buttons on the side is bad enough, it’s worst when the labels are on the side too, how the hell am I suppose to see them. Third, with all these functions and features, I don’t want to go up to the monitor to change the settings every time, gimme a remote!  Fourth, I want the inputs ports to be relocated for easier access, possibly at the back of the stand. Other than that, it’s perfect.

As for a more recent post, I told you I was looking for a wireless trackball. Well I found it, but it’s all the way in Japan….Damn you Japan with your fancy toys that doesn’t get imported to Canada. I can probably ask my friend in HK to find it and ship it but….I hate to bother people with such minor specifics.  I hope I can visit Japan this winter so I can get it myself….though no big hopes, It’s already mid Oct, if I was to plan a vacation, I should have started earlier.  Anyway the trackball is from sanwa supply. The design isn’t exactly what I visioned but close enough…plus I just don’t know where else I can get a wireless trackball.

A friend of mine from work was gloating about how he got a better deal with his dell monitor. Sure it’s $200 less but if you know your video shit, That dell monitor is an inch smaller, doesn’t have component in, not as bright, and doesn’t have pip. This monitor is great for playing ps2 games and work…worth every buck. Oh it’s $900 CND including tax, damn good price. I love Gateway  ^_^   I’m still using that gateway laptop from years ago, still running greats. Thumbs up.
