Dont’ really have much time on my hands lately but I still manage to watch 2 movies. Batman Begins and The 40 Year Old Virgin.
Batman Begins was pretty good. Action, special effects, tech gadget, you name it, it’s in there. The story isn’t as dark as what the critics said it was, I actually think the first Batman movie(Michael Keaton) was darker. Christian Bale didn’t do a good job at conveying batman’s anger towards criminals. The biggest flaw of the movie was casting Katie Holmes as the lead actress. Katie Holmes, eeeeeew… I’d rather watch a dead rat floating in the sewer. She’s not movie worthy, not even tv worthy, someone please drag her off the screens.
The 40 year old virgin wasn’t quite what I was expecting. From the commercials, it looked as though the producers really know where to draw the line with the jokes but if you watched it, you know it’s pretty vulgar. Steve Carrell was rather boring. I’d much rather have Michael McDonald(mad tv) take the roll, he’s much funnier and more capable as an actor. The support character in the movie was great, much more interesting. Everyone has their very identifiable personalities. Anyway, I still find the language and comedy to be more than I can take and ending with the dancing and the singing is just lame.
Verdict:
batman begins - katie holmes = good
the 40 year old virgin = trash
