another day of school ahead

Monday, May 30th, 2005

This weekend + monday….  did a lot… didn’t do enough… somethings are still unfinished… did some stuff too quick… worked too hard on some stuff and not enough on others..   yes, definitely a strange weekend.

Finished a few assignments ahead of the due date. Haven’t started on another (due thursday…) Spent a whole 2 days preping my resume and cover letter. After a look at the school’s job posting, just didn’t feel like applying to any of them. One of the posting is to be the computer science dep’s web master. I can handle something like that for sure, but it’s kinda sad to be in school on work term. Work term is suppose to be the time to explore the world outside.

….should have made time to clean up the bathroom today. Getting a lot of hair bunnies on the floor. still waiting for the laundry to be done….gotta remember to bring my car to the car wash tomorrow. 25% coupon expires tomorrow.  Ought to get a bottle of soy milk too.

assignment night

douzens of tasks ahead. Completed a few, plenty to go. Was looking through stuff from my group members earlier. After looking at it, I just wanted to edit them all. For most parts, the group assignment was a give away, since it’s identical to the previous practice we did in class. I just can’t believe most of the member didn’t bother to copy it from the practice. "It’s a freaking dead give away". The Prof told us herself that the feedback from the practice was meant to help us in the assignment. As usual, I’d already took on the difficult portion (the part that couldn’t be copied form the practice, so I had to write it up). I don’t think I will give much feedback to the members about their not so perfect answers, because I’m pretty use that path will put my into the team leader spot again and the soon after 4am or no sleep before assignment hand-in position. I just can’t handle that sort of stuff this sem. I’d got too much on the plate as it is right now.

A while back I was assesing my behavior patterns and finally came up with a conclusion. I am a lazy over achiever.

Anyway, I had some amusing news. The past Friday, I finish an assignment in record time. Submitted it fifteen minuites after the Prof posted it. I didn’t realize I finished it that quick. I was just bored trying to find something to fill the time gap between classes. Doubt I will break this record anytime later, so pad on the back for setting it that day, this month, this year. ^_^

back to work…

first wave

Wednesday, May 25th, 2005

it’s that time again. A few weeks into the sem, and every prof is ready to throw assignments at you. This sem it’s gonna be especially tough, seeing that this sem’s Profs don’t really communicate to each other nor make use of the blackboard system. I can smell clashes of test/assignment dates miles away. Been so busy lately that I still haven’t wrote the reviews on the 2 restaurants from last week. I have however came up with a marking scheme, just so it will be easier to read for you and easier to make entries for me. oh man….I still haven’t finish my cover letter…maybe preping for coop and taking 2 streams isn’t such a hot idea afterall. (it’s too late to drop anything without leaving an ugly…so that’s not an option)…need to push brain power to 120%  >.<

capacity full

Monday, May 23rd, 2005

…been reading all day and all night long, I can feel my brain trying to process everything. People who write textbooks should know better than to write length examples, especially when both positive and negative examples are writen. The mind tends to drift away when reading these unnessasarily length stuff. I did try to start reading earlier in the weekend but there were just something more interesting to do. Had a fun day hanging out with friends and went to 2 restaurants which I write about perhapes tomorrow when my mind clears….need some rest now.

blogging from school

Friday, May 20th, 2005

got 2 hrs to kill in between classes, so I decided to vent a little.

Remember yesterday’s post, I said that girl was a real disappointment from my dbs group? "oops, she did it again"  The sys assignment is due today, and all my other group members did their part. The latest latest deadline to send in the answers so one of us(me) can combine them was 9:30am. Not only did she not send her answers, I got an e-mail form her this moring 9:53am asking if she have to do her part.  >.<  fffff   Luckily, my other group member mis-understood the way we were spliting the assignment and accidentally completed her part. So the assignment was already submitted last night, and that’s why I have a bit of time to relax right now.  ^o^  …..now I will have to see how I should go about this group assignment thing in the next phase, there’s still 12 weeks to go working with the same members…. I will worry later…

Next class will be interesting. The prof skipped class to line-up for the star wars movie yesterday. Wonder if he’s actually gonna make up for lost time or talk about how cool the movie was.  Yea…I should be angry since I paid $$ for the course and I’m not getting a 100% worth but I’m not. Everyone has a reason that will make them do something crazy,…guess star wars is that thing for him.

things that happened while I was sleeping

Thursday, May 19th, 2005

not quite sleeping sleeping, but rather sleeping as not paying attention to the world around me.

Adobe acquired Macromedia….what has the world come to…That merger of the 2 software giants is as bad as Intel buying out AMD…or Microsoft buying out Apple. I guess one good thing will come of this. No more sueing over the interface issue and just have good hci design for all products.

It’s season finale month and lots of the long running shows are ending. Not that I care. It was interesting though. That show "Everybody loves Raymond" had a half hour re-cap and interviews before the final episode. I hardly remember any other shows made such a fuzzy in the past.

Gorillaz will have a new album out on the 24th. I have their last album. Only a few tracks kept me interested but listening through the whole thing usually puts me to sleep. As usual, their mv’s are cool and cg filled.

…..guess that’s pretty much it. I am very much looking forward to get the album from Billy Corgan "The Future Embrace".  None of the music I listened to since the pumpkins split really connects. Not that I expect the album to sound like pumpkins because it should be different but at least it will be something qualitative.

busy week

Thursday, May 19th, 2005

Besides being my b-day this week, quite a lot of stuff is happening. First off, of course it’s school. Somehow that girl who didn’t do much in my last sem’s dbs class is now in my sys class. And guess what? She’s in my group…. I don’t know how she got into my group, the member assignment seem to be done in alphabetical order and things just doesn’t add up.  Sigh…guess I and the other 2 members will have to carry her through. (argh >.< …dead weight..)

Yesterday, I had a short interview with the cpp(coop coordinator) prof. I must have somehow mis-represented myself, because she said I will have no problem finding a job in the web developer field.  ??? I DON’T WANT TO BE A WEB DEVELOPER!!! Not to offend people I know who are web developers but I’ve been more or less in that business for a while, the last thing I want is to go back into that full time, web development is boring. As a favour for friends and people I knew from previous job, that’s alright, it’s just good fun but never again full time. Speaking of which, I’m currently coding stuff for my friend’s company’s new site. And just yesterday, another friend called me up about another possible site to build. Totally welcome those, since I just do it for fun. And I’m still working on phase2 of a restaurant site I made a year ago. I’ve been a bit lazy, I know I can get the prototype made and sent in a few hours but I’m tired.

Got an unexpected present on my birthday. Unexpected on both ends.  : )  how? My friend in hk was working on some branding stuff and asked for my opinion. He didn’t know it was my b-day since I make a habbit of changing all my profiles a month ahead. We messages for half an hour on creating that brand. It was free assistance for him, and fun for me. Reminded me how much fun it was to create a new brand. Of course it was also a major confidence boost, 2 years out of the full time game and haven’t lost my touch. Thanks Harvey.

Another day to go for this busy school week… another long day ahead.

Tuesday, May 17th, 2005

Hey friends, sorry I’ve missed your calls. I have a bad habbit of leaving my mobile in my coat pocket and forgetting to forwarding it to the home phone after school.  If you’ve been so bored as to read my blog, you’d know I’m pretty busy these days, especially on tuesdays 8:00am-3:00pm non-stop. Looking around at the people in my classes, I seem to be the only one brave(or crazy) enough to take on both software dev and business app dev streams in the same sem. Checking out the schedule and I realize how much easier life would be if I just picked one. Hell no I say, I’m a collector of skills. I can and will do it all! gonna follow up this post with a list of stuff that makes me super. Need a major confidence boost before the interview tomorrow. : )

driven by boredom

Saturday, May 14th, 2005

The guys was planning on going out to dinner tonight. But since they plan to start around 7:30-8:00, I’m guessing it’s just gonna be another cheap meal and bs about nothing important, so I decided to stay home instead. Cooking my own meal again,…I feel like doing something creative tonight.Frynoodles Jap style fry noodles with dumplings on the side (and hot sauce). The whole thing took around half an hour to prepare and 15 min to eat. If you are so bored into looking at the details, yes, the vegy are chopped fine almost to the thickness of the noodles, because that’s how it’s suppose to be. : )
